Our wounded troops are flown to Landstuhl Army Medical Hospital, Germany and then to our state-side military hospitals with not much more than a hospital gown to wear. I have partnered with Columbia Baptist Association, Dothan, Al and Operation First Response http://www.operationfirstresponse.org to provide them with a "BIKER" T-shirt and a card or note for them to say thanks and we love and will be praying for you. Columbia Baptist will be helping with the collection and shipping Operation. First Response then they will distribute them where needed. Please visit their website. The best way to contribute is to gather what shirts you wish to donate and box them up and deliver or send then to the above address.
We ask that you help us by sending only new or like new shirts: place them in a gallon zip-lock type bag, put a card or personal note inside and mark the size on the outside with a permanent marker. On the card or note you are welcome to put correspondence information and info about you and your club or maybe photo of you and ride. Donations to help offset shipping would be greatly appreciated. (Maybe $1 or $2 per shirt). Also, if you have a current Biker Mag you can include it. (Please limit to one mag because of the cost of shipping)
This effort was born in a conversation with a person with the USO about this need. We are just sharing the vision and the blessing. We need your help. There are currently 20,000 plus wounded troops, many amputees and severe head trauma victims, and because of financial constraints rarely receive visits from family. If you have the opportunity, contact the military hospital near you to set up a visit.
Thanks,
Steve "stormrider" Betsill
